Where else in Africa you would expect to see elephant and rhino in grassed savanna or thick bushveld, but here in Namibia you can see these species wandering across barren sandscapes in search of secret water sources and sparsely distributed plants. Namibia is home to the world's oldest desert, an ancient fossil plant Welwitschia mirabilis, scores of prehistoric rock art sites and dinosaur footprints, and the largest cheetah population in the world. Cities and towns in Namibia are small and usually very neat and tidy. There is a strong German influence in the architecture and people of Namibia.
